Patricia G. Wang
Executive Director of Development, Gift Planning

Patty’s career in higher education fundraising has been in the service of UMD since 1986 in positions of progressive responsibility in front-line fundraising and development operations. She transitioned to gift planning and estate administration in 2006 and currently serves as the Executive Director of Gift Planning. Patty is a past president of the National Capital Gift Planning Council (NCGPC), the DMV council of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners, and the 2019 recipient of the prestigious Distinguished Service Award, the highest recognition given by NCGPC. She received a bachelor’s degree from the California State University Los Angeles.

Vikki Ismael, CAP®

Director of Gift Planning

Vikki joined the Office of Gift Planning team in February 2017 and brings nearly 30 years of development experience to the University of Maryland. As a front-line fundraiser, she engages alumni and friends to include the University in their estate plans, working collaboratively with development officers campus wide. She is active in the National Capital Gift Planning Council of the greater Washington, D.C., area having served in several capacities, including completing a six-year Board term in June 2019. A native New Yorker, Vikki received a bachelor's degree from Syracuse University and a master's degree from Carnegie Mellon University. She is a Certified Gift Planning Officer and a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy®.

Tiffanie N. Purvis, Esq.
Assistant Director of Gift Planning

Tiffanie joined the Office of Gift Planning team in April 2018 and works with donors and alumni interested in making a planned gift to the University. She has been working in charitable gift planning for the past five years. Prior to joining our team, Tiffanie was a solo practitioner in the field of Estate Planning and Landlord Tenant Law. She received her bachelor’s degree from North Carolina A&T State University and her law degree from Thurgood Marshall School of Law, Texas Southern University in Houston, where she graduated with honors. In 2017 Tiffanie won the Rising Star Award in charitable gift planning from the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners.

Beth Winson
Manager, External Relations

Beth joined the Office of Gift Planning in January 2017 and manages the team's marketing, communications, and stewardship programs. She received a bachelor's degree from Indiana University and a master's degree from the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University.


Susan B. Byrne
Development Coordinator

Susan joined the Office of Gift Planning in April of 2019 and provides the team with administrative and organizational support. She received her bachelor's degree from Boston College.
